Light, air and greenery give urban homes their sense of generosity. Interlocking Housing explores how these qualities can be shared across a medium-density residential building.
One- and two-bedroom homes interlock vertically, creating double-height living spaces and openings that bring daylight deeper into the building. Vertical voids form part of a proposed natural ventilation strategy, while integrated planting adds a living layer to the shared environment.
The design responds to changing household structures through a distinctive arrangement of private and connected spaces. It offers a residential typology in which density is considered alongside openness, comfort and the everyday pleasure of coming home.
