CENTRE FOR HUMAN DIGITISATION: The Future of Archives
Project type
Cultural and civic design research
Date
March 2023
Location
Sydney, Australia
How might a city remember the people who give it life? The Centre for Human Digitisation explores a new kind of public archive, conceived around the digital traces and memories of its residents.
The speculative proposal reconsiders the relationship between an urban cemetery and a civic archive. It asks how places of remembrance might evolve as personal histories take digital forms.
The project brings design into a conversation about identity, continuity and collective memory, exploring a place where a city could encounter the lives that have shaped it.
