LEARNING CORRIDOR: A table becomes a room

Status

Design proposal

Brief

Reuse of vacant space for shared learning

Project type

Learning environments and adaptive reuse

Date

March, 2026

Location

Sydney, NSW

A place to learn can begin with somewhere to sit together. Learning Corridor reimagines vacant shopfronts in a Sydney pedestrian arcade as a sequence of places for concentration, conversation and shared work.

Study pods, collaborative tables and informal commons give an existing interior new possibilities. Near Central Station and the surrounding education district, the proposal brings learning into the everyday movement of the city.

The design explores how carefully made additions can give underused space a more welcoming purpose. For schools, universities and workplaces, it offers an approach to creating distinctive learning environments within the spaces they already have.
